Happy Holidays Forsman Families!

I cannot believe that the year has gone by as fast as it has so far!  It truly speaks to the joy I feel in working with my students this year.  Everyday I come to school with a smile on my face and everyday I am greeted with dozens of others.  It's an amazing feeling when students are so excited to learn!  Thank you for the support you show in having me be an integral part of your student's education.  Having a learning specialist in the classroom can be an unfamiliar experience for many, but such an asset!  You all have shown that you recognize that and it is something to celebrate.

Over the years my position and responsibilities at Prarieview have evolved and grown.  I am so excited to be in the classrooms doing what I do best - teaching!  Additionally, I still love lending my expertise to small group work- allowing me to assist where learning is more difficult, provide challenging opportunities for those who crave it, and all those in between.  It is so rewarding to me.  I am passionate about differentiating for all of my students, as they are each individual.

I know some third grade teachers posted our homework statement so I won't re-post, but I gathered some optional materials to help families work with their students at home over the rest of the school year.  These materials will be sent home either today or right after break.  There is also xtramath.com (basic fact fluency practice) and newsela.com (nonfiction and current events articles for fluency and comprehension practice) that are great resources.  If you ever have specific learning questions for any kind of learner - please do not hesitate to contact me!

I am excited to announce two new things in my education world to my families:

1.  I am almost done with my gifted education grad course and will sit for the national exam on January 28th for my gifted education certification!

2.  My husband and I are utilizing my early childhood background to start an Early Education Enrichment - Darien location in March!  The website is earlyeducationenrichment.com  We are not on the website until January, but it is an awesome opportunity if you know anyone (or younger siblings) with 4-6 year olds that might be interested in enrichment classes in the afternoons and weekends!  Please have them contact me!

Such an exciting time!  I hope all is well with you and yours as you embark on this two week celebration of celebration of time with loved ones.  May it bring rest, relaxation, and happiness.  Have a safe rest of your 2014 and we will see you in 2015!
