MAP tests and Benchmarking

Hi everyone!  I wanted to share some information about the coming week.  It is our Spring Testing Week!  Below is the schedule of events for both the students in Miss Pellin's class and the students in Miss Stetka's class.  Per the students' IEPs all of the state/district-wide testing accommodations will be made for these tests.  The MCAP and MCOMP math benchmarking tests are 8 minute math probes.  The MCAP will be read to your student if they receive the oral presentation accommodation but the MCOMP will not.  The MCOMP is math computation (all four operations mixed).  The MCAP is the assessment that has story problems, time, measurement, fractions, area, perimeter, rounding, etc.  These assessments are given at different points in the week as they are so short.  The Reading benchmarking test is a series of 3 one minute reading probes to test words correctly read per minute.  The median score is taken.  All third graders will be benchmarked in reading Tuesday afternoon from 12:50-1:50pm.

Now the biggie... MAP tests.

Miss Stetka's class will take the Reading MAP on Thursday, May 8th from 11:45-12:45 and the Math MAP on Friday, May 9th from 11:45-12:45.

Miss Pellin's class will take the Reading MAP on Wednesday, May 7th from 9:15-10:15 and the Math MAP on Friday, May 9th from 9:15-10:15.

Just like the benchmarking tests... the Math MAP may be read to students but not the Reading MAP.  Please help your child see the value of putting forth their best effort on these tests as it really helps us get a handle on their growth for the year and decisions for the following if applicable.  Lots of sleep and healthy breakfasts are always a great idea!  Thanks for all you do to help your students succeed!
