Spring Break FUN

Fun, educational things to do on Spring Break?  Sometimes they are hard to think of or come by.  If you are a "staycation" family like mine but still want the kids to have a great time - here is a list of things to keep the kiddos occupied but learning at the same time!  5 more days until a much deserved brain break for our students!

Museums
The DuPage Children's Museum in Naperville... it may seem a bit for younger kids but even when I take my kids there I find myself playing at the water table, with the light pegs, or making shapes upstairs on the shape wall.
The Children's Museum at Navy Pier or Kohl Children's Museum in the Northern Suburbs

The Shedd Aquarium, The Field Museum, The Art Institute, and The Museum of Science and Industry have "free days" listed on their website.

Movie Theaters
The Tivoli in Downers Grove has both reduced price movies and historical meaning to our town!

Hollywood Boulevard in Woodridge offers some hollywood glamour as well as historical movie memorabilia.

Restaurants
All Aboard Diner in Downers Grove - ok so it's not really a learning opportunity unless you have a train fanatic at your house like I do, but it certainly is fine family fun.  Make sure to get a seat where the train serves you your food!

Rainforest Cafe in Woodfield Mall - brush up on your animal knowledge as well as habitats while enjoying a wild meal

Libraries
I recommend visiting them all - there are different computer programs available, video games/movies to check out, pre-teen/teen areas to chill with friends in, and of course tons of new books to keep the students engaged over break.

Indian Prairie, Woodridge, Downers Grove, Lisle, Westmont to name a few...

Last but not least... your HOME!  Have your students get outside on those nice days and invite friends over to run around and play.  Look on Pinterest for engaging craft projects and experiments to do.

Enjoy this time with your families!
