What's in the Forsman Future?

Reading/Math RTI
If your student receives services through Response to Intervention in either Reading or Math please ask them about their goal and how their graph is looking.  We try to have each student take ownership and investment in their progress to motivate them.  We talk weekly about their reading/math goals and show them how they are doing.  So far the graphs are looking great!  I am so proud of all of my students.  They are such hard workers and the gap is closing!!

Reading
We are working a lot more on non-fiction comprehension and the students' abilities to identify and work with the various parts of non-fiction text.  This proves to be a little more difficult so we are scaffolding and allowing for lots of modeling and practice.  We also are concentrating a lot on literary elements (characters, setting, and plot) in our fiction studies.

Math
We are starting Chapter 4 on Subtraction this Monday.  This chapter is similar to the previous chapter on addition.  We will have a mini lesson on touch math subtraction, work with estimation, borrowing, and of course subtracting across zeros.  Please continue to encourage flash card practice at home.  We can see the confidence level rise here in school when the students who have been practicing start to be more accurate and quick with their facts.  There is a correlation! :)

Tune in next Friday for more Forsman Fun!
