What's in the Forsman Future?

Spelling
We will pretest List#23 on Monday. There will be a homework packet due Friday as always, and we will have our final test on Friday as well. :)

Reading
Our first classroom poetry cafe went well today!  We will do this again next week with a different poem.  We will continue working on our phonics and decoding skills, as well as composing different types of poetry.  Next, we will switch gears and move on to a novel study to practice using our reading strategies.  Please keep in mind that the April reading calendars and the genre book reports for April are due on the 30th.  Thanks!

Reading RTI
Throughout the remainder of the school year I am teaching the main concepts of the entire 3rd grade curriculum since many of my tier 3 reading students miss science class.  I have already hit the main ideas from several social studies chapters/topics such as Chicago and Downers Grove as well as immigration, traditions, and cultural diversity.  I will also be teaching Egypt in reading class when that topic nears.  The students are keeping a Science Field Journal to record facts that they have learned along the way!

Math
Get excited for Algebra!  That is the next chapter of study that we will be beginning.  We will work with estimating and multiplying two and three digit numbers.  Hopefully the students will be able to learn the tips and tricks we teach and apply them to more difficult problems!
Writing
This week's prompt:  If I could be any animal, I would be a... Try to elaborate and add exciting details to your response. Make it into a paragraph and think of 6 sentences to support your topic sentence. You could even make this into a creative story!

Tune in next Friday for more Forsman Fun!
