What's in the Forsman Future?

Spelling
Our class will pretest List #17 on Monday and have our graded test on Friday. The assigned packet of homework will be due on Friday! Please note that the workbook pages in the spelling packet that the students are expected to do for homework are always to be circled before the packet gets home. The other workbook pages we complete in class

Reading
Since Horrible Harry in Room 2B was such a hit, we have just started the sequel of Horrible Harry Moves up to 3rd Grade. The students are so much better at reading chapters in these novels and summarizing the most important new characters, settings, and plot points that might arise. This is a really important skill, especially when needing to recall information in a longer piece of written work like a novel. I am really proud of them.

Reading RTI
We continue to focus on phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension daily through the Wilson and Lexia phonics programs, Michael Heggarty phonemic awareness program, and the Soar to Success guided reading model.

Math
The study of shapes continues next week as we started to focus on congruent and similar shapes today and will look at what we can do with shapes next week (flip, turn, slide, etc.) They students had fun playing with their geometric boards/rubber bands to make shapes as well as playing "Simon Says" with types of lines and angles.

Math RTI
Our math RTI groups continue to practice mixed math concepts. We will also use the intervention Number Worlds. Depending on the tier of service your student receives, they will either be progress monitored every week or every other week.

English
This week's prompt: Write a situation that begins with the main character clapping. Try to elaborate and add exciting details to your response. Make it into a paragraph and think of 6 sentences to support your topic sentence. You could even make this into a creative story!

Tune in next Friday for more Forsman Fun!
