What's in the Forsman Future?

Spelling
Our class will pretest List #16 on Monday and have our graded test on Friday. The assigned packet of homework will be due on Friday!

Reading
We have completed our work with Horrible Harry and the students really enjoyed that novel. Their comprehension of the material was remarkable! We will have to read another one of the books in the series very soon as it was well liked. This next week, we will continue working on our African American biography projects as well as working on our comprehension strategies using a variety of literary materials, mostly short stories.

Reading RTI
My tier 3 reading group has made beautiful and large gains in reading this year as seen by their recent MAPs scores so we are planning on keeping up the good work. We focus on phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension daily through the Wilson and Lexia phonics programs, Michael Heggarty phonemic awareness program, and the Soar to Success guided reading model.

Math
We have started geometry. Our daily mixed review in class has already proven helpful in that many students already had some schema related to the types of lines, segments, etc. that we discussed in class today. We will continue to work on lines, points, rays, segments and angles as well as the sides/angles of various shapes as we progress through this chapter.

Math RTI
Our math RTI groups are off to a great start with some mixed review and preview of new concepts. We will also be using the intervention Number Worlds. Depending on the tier of service your student receives, they will either be progress monitored every week or every other week.

English

This week's prompt: Imagine you've invented an incredible pet collar. Explain why it is so remarkable. Try to elaborate and add exciting details to your response. Make it into a paragraph and think of 6 sentences to support your topic sentence. You could even make this into a creative story!

Tune in next Friday for more Forsman Fun!
