What's in the Forsman Future?

It was so great to meet with all of the families this past week.  If I wasn't able to make your appointment, you weren't able to keep your appointment, or you just have further questions or concerns, etc.  please feel free to contact me.  It was great having the conferences fairly early in the school year as a wonderful touch base point.  The next round of major benchmark testing is in January unless your student is progress monitored.  Please know that we discuss student progress often as a team, but if you have concerns let us know as soon as possible and we will do what we can to help support!

Reading
The classrooms have been focusing on cause and effect this week as well as the other review skills.  Next week we will start talking about analogies, synonyms, and antonyms.  These are typically difficult for students to grasp so please continue to support at home as well.  Ask you student to identify synonyms (sames) of words in their home life as well as antonyms (opposites).  See if they can create their own analogies with words.  Ex:  big : small :: tall : short

Math
As hopefully all of you know, we decided to spend an extra day reviewing subtraction and will test on Chapter 4 on Wednesday when the students return from their long weekend of studying and practicing it. :)  If they could at least do a little refresher at home over the 4 day weekend that would be awesome so they feel confident and ready on Wednesday.  Chapter 5 that we will start on Thursday will be broken up into units.  We will concentrate on money first and then assess their comprehension on those concepts before beginning our study of time.

Tune in next Friday for more Forsman Fun!
