We are jumping ahead a bit to pretest List#22 on Monday. There will be a homework packet due Friday as always, and we will have our final test on Friday as well.
Reading
It was so nice to see such support of our reading students at the Poetry Cafe this past Thursday. The kids were really excited and I was so proud of each and every one of them! They have such great families and I am fortunate to work with you all!
As always, we will continue to use our reading strategies and skills to comprehend and fluently read appropriately leveled literary works of all genres. New this coming week: since we are getting so good at reading poetry... I will be passing out a new poem each week on Monday for the students to practice reading at home each night. On Fridays we will have a classroom Poetry Cafe and I will grade the students on their speaking skills! :) There will be a rubric on the back of the poem each week so you can see what I am looking for.
Math
We are continuing to work hard on our division facts. Next week, several students are still trying to pass their 3s and then start studying their 4s. Fact families are HUGE in helping the students make connections between these numbers. We will also be finishing up our work with fractions and decimals next week.
Writing
This week's prompt: I am most proud of my ability to... Try to elaborate and add exciting details to your response. Make it into a paragraph and think of 6 sentences to support your topic sentence. You could even make this into a creative story!
