What's in the Forsman Future?
Spelling
We will be taking a break from our regular Spelling routine until after ISAT testing to give the students more time to work with reading strategies and extended responses.

Reading
We are using a variety of reading materials to practice all of our reading strategies as we get closer to the ISAT tests. Also, please note that the February reading calendar as well as the Genre Book Report for February are due on Wednesday, February 29th. That day, I will issue the new calendar and project for March.

Reading RTI
We continue to focus on phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension daily through the Wilson and Lexia phonics programs, Michael Heggerty phonemic awareness program, and the Soar to Success guided reading model.

Math
We focused a lot on perimeter, area, and volume this week and next week we will continue to work on Tcharts as we do mixed review in the classroom. The Tcharts teach the students to put into words what they do in multi-step problems and why they did each step.

Math RTI
Our math RTI groups continue to practice mixed math concepts. We will also use the intervention Number Worlds. Depending on the tier of service your student receives, they will either be progress monitored every week or every other week.

English
This week's prompt: List ways a police officer (or doctor or builder) uses math. Explain your reasoning. Try to elaborate and add exciting details to your response. Make it into a paragraph and think of 6 sentences to support your topic sentence. You could even make this into a creative story!

Tune in next Friday for more Forsman Fun!
