What's in the Forsman Future?
Spelling
We are going to continue our work with prefixes, root/base words, and suffixes this week. We will have a graded review on these concepts on Friday but it will not be a traditional spelling test. There is not a way to study other than working hard in class! (as always...) :) We will be working on games, watching videos, and doing activities related to prefixes, root/base words, suffixes, and how they change the meaning of words.

Reading
The students have Horrible Harry Fever! They have requested top read another novel in the series which we will do, but I will give them a break first and do some strategy review this coming week with a variety of literary works.

Reading RTI
We continue to focus on phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension daily through the Wilson and Lexia phonics programs, Michael Heggarty phonemic awareness program, and the Soar to Success guided reading model.

Math
We have begun to really focus on mixed review and higher level math problem solving strategies as we continue our current chapter in math. We have started to dicipher what is being asked of us in various word problems and how to explain what we did and why in the math T-charts attached to story problems. These next few weeks in math are really preparatory and important to build lifelong mathematical thinkers!

Math RTI
Our math RTI groups continue to practice mixed math concepts. We will also use the intervention Number Worlds. Depending on the tier of service your student receives, they will either be progress monitored every week or every other week.

English
This week's prompt: Do you think it's ever okay to play unfairly? Explain your reasoning. Try to elaborate and add exciting details to your response. Make it into a paragraph and think of 6 sentences to support your topic sentence. You could even make this into a creative story!

Tune in next Friday for more Forsman Fun!
